ON A FLORAL TREASURE HUNT

It all started in college, where I learned from a myriad of talented designers while working in flower shops. Eventually, I launched my own successful floral event company, balancing business, raising babies, and supporting my husband through med school – because even a full plate looks better with some flowers.

But a curiosity was planted – what else can flowers do beyond bouquets?

My floralventure took me from designing weddings to creating large-scale, field-to-art flower installations that challenge the norms of what flowers can be. From crafting floral mermaid gardens to a flower haven for a professional treehouse reveal, I’ve always asked:

“WHAT ELSE CAN WE DO WITH FLOWERS?”

Flowers are a funny thing, right? On one hand they grow right out of the dirt, even from cracks in the cement. On the other hand, they are a luxury item that many do not have access to or simply can't afford, especially curated large-scale flower design. I hope to change that and help more people experience the beauty and joy of flowers as art.

Flowers are fun

I grew up sneaking my neighbors' rose petals and making them into perfumes, potions, and nature stews - such tactile, happy memories! Later, as I hosted flower workshops, I loved watching people’s eyes light up and their bodies physically relax as they held, cut, and designed their own flower creations. Now I’m a fierce believer in the power flowers have to spark joy in humans. I love community flower builds where each person hand picks a flower and adds their own personal touch to a design. Most follow the rules, but I get a kick out of those who break them and do it their own quirky way—they're my tribe.

FLOWERS ARE FOR EVERYONE

I’m inspired by stories like Follow the Blooms collaborator Tracy Yang’s–a breakdancer turned Flower Farmer, following her mother’s footsteps as a Mong refugee who began farming veggies to support her young family after relocating to the U.S. This unlikely, yet full-circle journey reminds us that flowers, like the people who grow and share them, have a ripple effect. Flowers speak all languages, they do not discriminate, and have been here since the beginning of time.

FLOWERS CONNECT PEOPLE

For my 45th Birthday, I handed out 45 small bouquets downtown. Once people believed I wasn't trying to sell them something, they wore huge smiles of delight. It gets me choked up thinking of the feeling. I started down this flower path thinking I was going to make some fun art and meet some cool people. What I discovered was much richer: when you follow the blooms it takes you through a diverse landscape of human stories connected through the beauty of nature that flowers hold.
In a world often divided, flowers soften and unify us.

A FORCE FOR THE FLOWER-VERSE:

I’ve spent over two decades working in every nook and cranny of the flower industry—running a wedding and event business, holding workshops, creating massive floral installations, and producing my own flower-centric TV series, Follow the Blooms.

I’ve been fortunate to partner with local growers, dive into farms across the country, and get people hands-on with flowers in ways they’ve never imagined. I also know my way around a camera lens, ensuring each bloom is captured with petalicious perfection.

I’m not just a florist—I’m a flower-reporter, documenting the world of blooms and sharing their stories through media that tells a darn good story.
